SHOCKING TRAIN ACCIDENT.

TIMARU. January 14. -t shocking' fatal accident occurred at the Pareon railway station this evening, when the evening slow train going south was at the station. A man left it temporarily, and tried to get on hoard again after it had started. He missed his footing and fell between two carriages, both his legs being shockingly mangled. An engine and van were sent from Timartt to bring the injured man to town, but he died just before he was put in the van. He was only able to give his name as "Rennie'’ and say “Wingatui.” The deceased vraa apparently about 30 years of age. He was sft 9in in height, cleanshaven, with brown hair, blue eyes, and a ■allow complexion, and had a scar on the lower right jaw.
