An impressive ceremony was concluded on Wednesday at Waiapu. when the obelisk erected to perpetuate the. memory of men who went from there to the war was unveiled by Sir Thomas Mackenzie in the presence of about 1000 people, prominent among

whom were Mr F. Mander. M.1’.., and (Mr 1). Mackenzie, chairman of the Memorial Committee. Inscribed on the monument were the names of 122 men, of whom 15 died at the front. The names of two nurses were also written there.
