GISBORNE, December 27. It is understood that the amended bar hour scheme designed by a commission o engineers, consisting of Messrs Willian Ferguson, J. Blair Mason, and Cyrus J Williams, provides for the same site n that originally recommended, but the are, has been reduced to 120 acres, with a dept at the entrance of 35ft, and the cost i estimated at £1,000,000. As a means o temporary relief to the present silted inno harbour the commission recommends, into alia, a mid-wall in the entrance channc’ which will reduce the width of the entranc to 100 ft.
