THE JOHN M'GLASHAN COLLEGE.
During the three years since the M'Glashan homestead at Balmacewen, Dunedin, became the John M'Glashan College over £30,000 has been spent upon the site in the erection of the remarkable group of modern school buildings that now constitute the college. Commencing with 10 boarders in February, 1918, the college closed its first year with a boarders’ roll of 17. The year 1919 opened with 37 and closed with 45, and the .year 1920 saw the total grow to 63. With the completion of the last big' addition just before the end of the year, the college now has accommodation for 90 boarders, 50 in the Senior (Balmacewen) House and 40 in the Junior (Burns) House. There is also classroom accommodation for a school of over 150 pupils. The capital for the establishment of the college has been raised mainly by the issue of debentures, which have been widely taken up amongst the business men and pastorulists of Otago and Southland, many of whom will no doubt be glad to pay a visit to the college during the forthcoming Summer Show, which takes place just about the time all ihe schools and colleges are reopening after the long vacation.
