IRELAND'S TURMOIL

A Sinn Fein circular has been distributed in Manchester, Liverpool, and elsewhere in Lancashire siunmoning every Irishman to prepare to strike for freedom,- " for to-day England is' on the (verge of revolution. REPRISAL FOR MURDER. LONDON, August 18; As a reprisal for the murder of Inspector Wilson, of the Royal Irish Constabulary, at Templemore, Tipperary, a number of police and soldiers burned and wrecked a considerable portion of Temrilemore. Armed with bombs, firearms, and petrol, they destroyed the Town Hall and a number of grocery and drapery shops and markets. A number of creameries scattered about the countryside were destroyed by fire. LORD MAYOR OF CORK. LONDON, August 17. Alderman M'Sweeney, Lord Mayor of Cork, is still hunger-striking, and has been deported to England in a destroyer. August 20. Alderman M'Sweeney, Lord Mayor of Cork, has been sentenced by coutt-marnal to two years' imprisonment. M'Sweeney continues to hunger-strike in the Brixton Prison, and declares he will persist regardless of consequences. Sinn Feiners assert that his death would have serious consequences, as M'Sweeney is one of the most popular Republican leaders in South Ireland. CONFLICTS WITH SOLDIERS. LONDON, August 19. - Raiders ambushed a military patrol at Ballyvourney, killed an officer, and wounded" four soldiers. . • A large armed party held up 30 soldiers in a motor lorry at Anascaul, West Kerry, and disarmed the soldiers after a sharp fusillade, and four soldiers were wounded.
