7. .The Clyde Sports Club has been revived with Mr S. A. Stevens. as s president and Mr R. Bringans as secretary, and it was decided to hold a sports mee'ting on Easter Monday, at which £65 will be given-in prize money. Cycling events were cut out for this season and a tug-of-war substituted. Mr Jeffery reported that he had received three, gold medals from Mr E. H. Watson, one each for the Clyde, Cromwell, and Alexandra clubs. It was resolved that the medal be given as a prize for a foot race for returned soldiers. A telegram from Los Angeles states that Dempsey, the world's heavy-weight £ oxin, § champion, has been arrested and charged with evading wartime conscription. Following upon the revival of athletics in the Oamaru district by the resuscitation of the North Otago Caledonian Society (states a Press Association telegram), a public meeting on the 4th decided to revive the Regatta Committee and arrange for the restoration of the annual regatta at Easter.
