PALMER ESSAY COMPETITION.

TWO PRIZES FOR OTAGO. WELLINGTON, December 5. The Palmer prize essay competition, conducted by the Wellington branch of the Navy League, resulted: — Senior subject, "Sea Power in the Great War" (boys): Edward King (Waitaki Boys' High School); girls, Mavis Falconer (Sacred Heart Girls' High School, ChristcflSrch). Junior subject, "Battle of Jutland"—Duncan MacGregor (Maori Hill School, Dunedin), Doreen Wills (Richmond School, Most of the secondary schools of the dominion competed, and there were a largo number of primary competitors, 250 essays being received.
