THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL
HIS SOUTHERN TOUR. NELSON, November 29. The Governor-general and Lady Liverpool, and suite arrived in Nelson on a farowell visit this morning. A holiday was observed during* the morning, and a very large gathering of citizens attended a . civic welcome at tho * church, steps. The vice-regal party afterwards made a round of visits to tho colleges and other institutions, and were entertained afc luncheon by the City Council. Rain in tho afternoon necessitated the abandonment of the pojected motor run through the orchard; districts and receptions at the country centres. ■'".■• I.■>. The party sailed in the Tutanekai this evening for- Westport. ARRIVAL AT REEFTON. * GREYMOUTH, December 2. The Governor : general and- suite arrived at Reefton last night, and were welcomed by the Mayor on behalf of the citizens. There was an official welcome at the Town Hall this morning, when there was a largo attendance, and a luncheon this afternoon. The Vjce-regfll party proceed to Hokitika, and later to Westport, joining the Tutanekai to-morrow morning. HOKITIKA, December 4. His Excellency the Governor-general and party had a warm reception hoi-3 on Tuesday afternoon. The-Town Hall was packed. Very cordial speeches were made by the 1 heads of the various local bodies. ARRIVAL AT BLUFF. INVERCARGTLL. December 5. The Governor-general and party arrived at Bluff in tho Tutanekai this afternoon, and came on to Invercargill later. A publio reception was given at the railway station, where ho received an address from the borough. In the evening he was tendered a civic welcome at the Town Hall. The party leave in tho morning for Quecnstown.
