RETURNED SOLDIERS
FRICTION BETWEEN ASSOCIATIONS.
WRIT ISSUED AGAINST PARENT BODY. AUCKLAND, September 8. The dispute between the Auckland Returned Soldiers' Association and the parent body to which it is affiliated culminated on Saturday in instructions being given for the issue of _ a writ against the New Zealand Association for the recovery of moneys alleged to be due to the.-Auckland Provincial Committee, which is named with the City Association as plaintiff. The i sum _ claimed is about £6OO, this being citation paid by the City Association up to the time the dispute commenced for provincial organising. The feeling among prominent members of the association is that these legal proceedings may be followed by the cancellation of affiliation by the City Association, and probably by most of the local associations in Auckland district. The opinion of leading counsel has been obtained. This is to the effect that the Auckland Association and the Provincial Committee were legally and morally in th© right in demanding that the money in question should be handed over unconditionally to the committee. It was stated that all but two of the local associations in the Auckland district support the District Committee's action. AUCKLAND, September 9. The executive of the Auckland branch of the Returned Soldiers' Association to-n%ht met Mr G. Mitchell, reprssentative of tha Dominion Executive with regard to the dispute between Auckland and headquarters concerning funds. A resolution wa3 unanfr mously passed recommending the Provincial Committee to proceed with the legal action unless district funds were handed to tha committee unconditionally.
