PRISONER RECAPTURED.
REMANDED FOE SENTENCE. TAUMARUNUI, August 11. On Saturday evening Constable Fleming recaptured a prisoner named D'Arcy Robert M'Devitt, who escaped from custody on April 1, while being escorted to Wellington. ■While a constable was placing a bag on a rack in a carriage the prisoner bolted, and was not seen again for three months. On July 30 Constable Fleming located the accused at a sawmill in the Turoto-Ohura district, but before his identity was proved M'Devitt bolted again. The capture was made in a whare rear Tokirima. The accused was remanded on a charge of breaking, entering, and stealing £125 worth of musical instruments from Oscar Brown's shop in Wellington. The accused pleaded guilty to a charge of escaping from custody, and was remanded for sentence.
