THE GOVERNMENT ALERT. WELLINGTON, May 28. The Minister oi Agriculture hopes soon to be in a position to announce that stops are being- taken in New Zealand under the anti-trust legislation of last session. Under that Act the Minister is given absolute power to prevent any firm whatsoever from operating in this country, and his decision is not subjeot to challenge on any ground at all. No firm may carry on meat export business under a penalty of £2OOO and a contributing penalty of £4OO per day unless licensed by the Minister. Up to the pre sent only one application for license has been refused, but most careful Inquiries are being made in various quarters.
