SHIPPING NEWS.
OVERSEAS VESSELS, The Tofua, which anchored in the Lower Harbour about 8 o'clock on Wednesday nighi from London, via the Panama Canal, came up to Dimedin shortly after 1 o'clock on Thursday afternoon, and commenced the diss* embarkation; to her troops. 'The local branch of the New Zealand Ship* ping Company has received advice that the ste-anier Opawa left London on May 18 for Australian and New Zealand ports. The Commonwealth Government's steamoi Australrange, 4408 tons, left New York on May 13 for Lyttelton and Dunedin, ako M«l» bourne. She will reach her first port about the middle of next month. REPORT ON WESTMORELAND. The inspection by the diver of the hull of the Westmoreland! is reported to have disclosed extensive denting of the plating on both sides of the keel. In addition to the removal of a miniber of the plates for straightening, a good deal of renewal is likely to be necessary. The exact amount of damage to be made good' cannot bo ascertained until the steamer is inspected in dock, .when it will be decided whether anj of the framing will require renewing.
