A CROWING INSTITUTION.

BRANCH OF Y.M.C.A. IN TIMARU. TIMARTJ, May 23. At a meeting addressed by Messrs E. C. Brownell (Dominion secretary) and J. C. Pisld (president of the Christchurch Association) a branch of the Y.M.C.A. was formed of 14 directors representing several churches. It 13 proposed to carry on as in other centres, and erect a hostel later. A site has been already purchased near Caroline Bay. Discussion has taken place on the proposal that the Returned Soldiers' Association who desire to erect club rooms should combine with the Y.M.C.A., but the soldiers refused to do so. The meeting appointed a committee to wait on the Returned Soldiers' Association to remove misconceptions.
