WAR GRATUITIES.

PAYMENT TO MARRIED MEN. WELLINGTON, May 8. It is .announced that the Government has decided to pay the full rate of 3s per day as from the date of embarkation for all married men from the beginning of the war. Payment will be made during the first week in June by a special warrant sent direct_ to the payee. In the case of soldiers who died prior to December 31, 1917, payment will be made up to the date of death, or to the date, of the separation allowance paid, if later. It will be unnecessary for application to be made in respect to married soldiers undischarged on April 30, 1919; but in the case of married soldiers deceased or discharged prior to that dato application will bo required before payments are issued.
