THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL.
EARL LIVERPOOL'S INTENTIONS. AUCKLAND, May 5. The Governor-general, speaking- at th. 9 Savage Club, said lie would probably not leave New Zealand for nine months. The Countess of Liverpool and he were about to redeem the* promise to visit every district in the dominion to bid the people farewell. He would leave in June to visit the islands of the Pacific, including Samoa (which, it could be taken for granted, wou!4 come under New Zealand's control). He had been in New Zealand for six years* and ho testified to the extraordinary support he had received from Ministers, officers of the Army and Navy, and officers of the Civil Service. His stay had been a time of great instruction for him, and he would carry away very dear recollections of the, little country that-had never failed the Empire in anything'it to do in the greatest crisis civilisation ever had.
