In the Auckland Supreme Court a Maori named Iwa Puharakeke was sentenced to 12 months' imprisonment for false pretences. Eileen M'Donald, who admitted wilfully detainino- a postal packet, and_ who had already been in custody for nine weeks, was sentenced to seven days' imprisonment, with hard labour.
