An extraordinary demand for steerage passages to England is reported in Melbourne, although there is no means of satisfying it. The fare is £37, where some months ago it was £6B. The Ostcrlcy, which recently
loft Melbourne, is ono of tJie few boata which has steerage accomodation. She took 200 steerage passengers, and it is said that her capacity in this direction could hare been filled four times over.
