WELLINGTON NOTES
(From Oue Own Cohbesi'O.ndknt.! April 25. Although the weather could have been improved upon the Feilding Jockey Olub had a successful meeting on Monday and Tuesday. Master Moutoa was considered unlucky to be beaten in the Cup. He scored in the Easter Handicap on the second day when ridden by A. lleed, who also rode two other winners. Sweet Tipper - ai'y scored a runaway victory in the Hurdles on the first day, and Papanui (by Papakena) won the first time of asking on the second day. The latter is trained by M. liarley, who has Sir Fisher. The latter was given a run each day, and can bo ticked oft' for a big hurdle race this winter. Waimatoa (by Bezonian) carried top weight in the Mangaone Stakes, and won in his best style. He was not produced on the second day, but will probably be seen out at Wairarapa on Saturday,' where he has to put up a penalty. Acre (who requires plenty of racing to get him in the pink of condition) ran second to Waimatoa, and won on the concluding day. He beat Simonides, who was brought out later in the day, and won a welter. Simonides was a good two-year-old, but this was the first race he has won since he went into R. Barlow's stable at New Plymouth. He was engaged at Wairarapa, but did not accept. Black Mark (All and Olynthus (Demosthenes —Etona) scored their first wins at the meeting. The latter is a well-grown two-year-old who may furnish into a useful horse next season. Vance (Advance — Daisy Clipper) failed .to reproduce her Rangitikei form on her only appearance at the meeting. Play Off, who is gradually coming back to form, ran second each day. The grey gelding White Blaze, who has been off the scene for some time, beat him on the opening day. When he fell in the Hurdles on the second day Swinton (Birkenhead—Camelot) sustained fatal injuries. winner of the principal event at Waipukurau, is engaged at Wairaraua meeting on Saturday and Monday. Chillies (Achilles—Bellicent), another winner at the Plawke's Bay oounty meeting, had not raced for three years. Lady Kilworth, another winner at the meeting named, paid a dividend of nearly half a century. Speechmaker and First Blow, two of Mi T. H. Lowry's two-year-olds, have been accepted for at the Wairarapa meeting. That there are plenty of horses in commission in this island at present is evident by the fact that only one winner at Waipukurau and one winner at Feildinjj are jMigaged at Wairarapa on Saturday and "Monday. Wellington meeting follows on Thursday and Saturday / of next week, and Manawatu on the following Wednesday and Thursday.
