Guthrie, up to the present £2,500,000 has been expended in placing 1133 soldiers on 673,000 acres, which amount includes over £1,000,000 as advances towards the purchase of private and Native lands, general improvements, and stock, and erection of dwellings, etc A total of 202,000 acres is available for selection, while properties comprising 44,500 acres are under negotiation with a view to acquisition. Dwellings purchased by soldiers under the Act numbered 414.
