LONDON WOOL SALES.
(By Cable.) LONDON, April 11. Rather a miscellaneous collection was offered at the wool sales. Competition for scoured crossbreds made them dearer. In the " Kawa " clip of scoured crossbred two bales realised 33d, and the average was 31d. April 12. The wool sales closed with prices at the highest point of the series. Finest comebacks were 15 to 20 per cent, above schedule rates; shafty merinos, 15 per cent. ; faulty, 7£ per cent. ; and merino coarse crossbreds 5 per cent. There has been an excellent demand for everything, the market exhibiting a cheerful tone. Practically all offerings were cleared. Messrs Dalgety and Co. report having received the following cablegram from their
London office, dated 11th hist.:—"Wool sales closed very firm, except medium coarse crossbreds; short faulty merinos slightly lower as compared with opening; ' good merinos, fine crossbreds dearer. Extreme prices have been paid for spinners' wool. French, Belgain, and Italians operating."
