ROTORUA, April iJ. The Governor-General and tho Countcsa of Liverpool were entertained by the Maori Pioneers last- night at Ohinemutu. several chiefs spoke requesting his Excellency to liberate the Waikato Maoris imprisoned for refusing military service, and one speaker asked his Excellency to use his influence to have the lakes case withdrawn and _ tha Arawas’ rights to the lakes recognised. The Earl of Liverpool eulogised and welcomed tho Pioneers, and added that he would brinjj tho speakers’ requests before the responsible Ministers.
