WHEAT LYING IDLE.
INABILITY TO GET DELIVERY AND PAYMENT.
ASHBURTON, April 8. A largo and representative meeting of farmers was held this afternoon to discuss the position that has arisen in regard to farmers not being able' to get delivery and payment for their wheat, which is lying 1 thrashed_ in the paddocks, about 60,000 sacks being on hand. After discussion it was unanimously resolved—" That the Government be asked to take over the wheat offered at the fixed price agreed upon, and provide for storage." A deputation was appointed to interview the Minister on the matter.
