ADVOCATING LAWLESSNESS.

TWELVE MONTHS' IMPRISONMENT.

WELLINGTON, April 8. William Parker was charged before Mr Frazer,_ S.M., to-day with having in his possession for distribution documents headed "Labour Unrest and the Lockout," which documents advocated lawlessness, contrary to the War Regulations. One leaflet advocated a strike on the works.

Chief Detective Boddam stated that a large number of leaflets had been distributed in Wellington, and some got as far as Christchurch. Detective Boddam added that Parker admitted that he had the leaflets printed to his order, and that he denied nothing. In a long speech from the dock the accused spoke of "parasites who fed on the workers." Ho showed no respect for the court. As he had been convicted in 1913 for seditious utterances, Mr Frazer sentenced him to 12 months' hard labour.
