ADULTERATED DRUG.

WANGANUI, April 14. At the Magistrate's Court to-day W. Murray, chemist, was fined £SO on a charge of selling an adulterated drug without informing the purchaser that it was adulterated. During the epidemic there was a great demand for ammoniated tincture of quinine, and the, defendant ran out of supplies, but he found a Winchester iar in his store room labelled " Ammoniated quinine mixture." Half a gallon was made up and sold next day. An analysis showed that it was deficient in quinine sulphate, and contained methylated spirits instead of rectified spirit. Defendant stated that the jar was in the. shop when he purchased the business, and he was unaware that there was anything wrong till complaint was made by customers.
