Sik, —In your report of the old identities' meeting at Waikouaiti you say that G. H. Carey -was born at Otakau in the_ year 1840. Now, Sir, that in not according- to fact. Mrs 'Taylor (nee Carey), the first white child bom in the province- of Otago, was born some time in 1841. The writer olaims to bo the first white man born in Otago, being born on May 6, 1841.—1 am, etc., K. Waimate, April 3.
