Returns prepared by the police authorities show (says the Lyttelton Times) that in the Christchureh police district, which extends from Kaikoura to Glenavy, and west to Arthur's Pas 6, there were 648 fewer offences last year than in 1917. Tho totaJ offences for each year, including military offences were:—l9l7, 3701; 1918, 3035.
