LAKE COUNTY.

April 5. —Ideal weather for this time of the year is being experienced,, there being a slight frost at night, followed by bright, sunny days. Dairying.—At present the daily intake at the Lake County Dairy Company's factory is 330 gallons of milk. This is about 70 gallons per day better than at this time last year. At the last meeting of the directors of the company it was decided to increase the price that is being paid for butter-fat by 2d per lb, making the price Is 9d per lb.

Property Sale.—Mr William M'Bride has sold his farm near Arrowtown to Mr Thomas Feehly, of Arrowtown. Welcome Home Socials. —A social was held in the Garrison Hall, Queenstown,_ on Friday evening, 28th ult., as a welcome home to Sister Fitzgibbon, Privates C. Duston, J. W. H. Robinson, T. Wilkie, T. Ryan, and T. R. Luckie. The last-named soldier was not present, having had to leave for Dunedin a few days previously for hospital treatment. The Mayor (Mr A. Simson) presided, and medals were presented to the sister and the soldiers mentioned. The speakers for the evening were the Mayor and the Rev. R. C. Hunter. Songs were contributed by Miss Crozier (a visitor), Miss Johnston, and Mr Foote, a duet by Misses Crozier and Kearney, a volin solo- by Mr D. Whelan, and an instrumental trio by Mrs Burns (piano), Messrs J. Eraser (violin), and iH. Tomkins (flafe).—At Arrowtown last evening a social was tendered to Engineer Max. Winders, Private H. F. Turner, and Flight Lieutenant Oswald Edie, recently returned home. Mr Gr. H. Romans presided, and addresses were given by the Revs. R. G-. Coats and J. Rattray and the chairman. The latter mojiftoned that the customary medals had not come to hand, but these would be handed to the soldiers later. —Sister Fitzgibbon would have been included in Arrowtown's welcome home social had she not to leave the district the day before. She will be tendered a social on her return in a few weeks' time.
