SITTING IN BLENHEIM. BLENHEIM, March 13. Before to-day's sitting of the Industries Committee, the Chairman said the committee had valuable information. It thought it would be able to some extent to reduce the cost of living as veil as help the industries of the country. Witnesses gave interesting evidence as_ to the conditions and output of the whaling industry, which required a protective and developmental measure; hydro-electric development in Marlborough; and railway extension to the West Coast coalfields in view of the prospective location of a naval base at Picton.
