FORGED BANK NOTES.

CHRISTCHURCH, April 4. Two stolen and forged National Bank onepound notes have been detected in Christchurch, and it is feared that a systematic attempt is being made to put them in circulation. A bundle of unsigned notes was stolen from tho vessel at Wellington, _ and was consigned to the bank, but the thieves forged the eignatures. The notes were dated January 1, 1918, and no notes of that date were issued by tho bank.
