WRONG IMPRESSIONS CORRECTED

WELLINGTON, March 31. In the course of a statement, Sir James Allen took occasion to correct several rumours which are in circulation regarding the administration of Samoa. Ho that since Colonel Tate's arrival a petition promoted by a certain chief asking that A portion of Samoa administered by Neir Zealand should bo handed over to th# United States ox .Great Britain had been withdrawn. He also corrected the impression that Colonel Logan would not resume the administration at the termination of his holiday. Colonel Logan, he said, would return and retain position till the statut of Samoa was determined by the Peaco Conference. Then military occupation would probably cease and a civil Government b* sot up.
