TARANAKI BOYS' HIGH SCHOOL.

NEW BUILDINGS OPENED. NEW PLYMOUTH, April 5. Sir James Allen to-day formally opened the new buildings at the Boys' High School to replace those destroyed by fire. The contract price, was £7BOO. The new buildings include a large assembly haH erected through the efforts of the Citizens' Committee, which raised £2OOO, the Government subsidising £IOOO. There was a large and representative assemblage. The Minister was welcomed by the chairman of the board (Mr R. W. D. Robertson). In reply, Sir James Allen congratulated the board and district on their public spirit. He defended the Minister of Education in reducing the grant owing to the pressure of war necessities. He spoke in high terms of the sehool cadets, and subsequently unveiled -a memorial tablet, the gift of citizens. The Minister at night was the guest of the- Old Boys' Association at a re-union..
