Cruickshanks, S.M., was considerably taken up to-day in hearing actions taken by Lazarus Wolfe Balkind (money-lender), in which he sought to recover loans and interest from several of his Invoroargill clients. Some of the actions were defended on the ground that the rate of interest charged was excessive.
