[Answered by a duly quaii&ed Veterinary Oargeoa Quartos must be received by SATUEDA.T nigh' to ensure reply in the sacoeedinjf ieeoe.]

Mare, Bannockburn, writes in connection with a mare with swollen hind, leg: "Apparently the trouble has resulted from a knock; the leg gets knotty in parts, and if cut or scratched there issues a brown fluid. The mare was blistered last winter twice, but this did more harm than' good. Does not go lame, but is a bit stiff at times. Is worked but little._ A cure is desired." "Agricola" replies as follows:—"There is evidently considerable thickening of the cellular tissues, due perhaps, o.s you suggest, to concussion, Blistering will do no good. Ycu had best clip the hair on the swollen leg, arid paint oocasionaJly with tincture of iodine. Buy also 2oz of iodide of potassium, and make up (by dissolving in a little water) 16 doses—a teaspoonful equals a dose. Give, mixed in the food, one dose daily. Yoii can work the animal as usual. Paint the leg with the tincture once a week for three weeks."
