THE WOOL MARKET.
(By Cable). An auction sale at Boston of Govern-ment-owned wool included 10,000 bales of Australian. Bidding was spirited, and the offerings were eagerly taken. Eleven bales of Australian (46 per cent, shrinkage) brought 92 cente per lb; .188 bales (45 per cent, shrinkage), 93 cents; 253 bales (47 per cent, shrinkage), 86 cents. Other lots realised from 65 to 86 cents. The highest price obtained was Idol per lb for 31 bales of greasy, 86 per cent, shrinkage. In connection with the negotiations for the purchase of the South African wool clip, the Imperial Government states that the Army Council is no longer interested in securing wool. It is prepared, however, to take 150,000 bales as a result of a strong desire to place South Africa on an equally favourable position with other dominions. If this offer is not acceptable, the Imperial Government would prefer to withdraw from the negotiations, which are now quite superfluous from a military standpoint.
