PATIENTS AND PRISONERS' AID SOCIETY. A meeting of the committee of the abov« society was held on Thursday afternoon} presentr-Messrs Geo. • FenwicK (chairman), G. L. Denniston, P. Barr, W. Gow, W. Bull, P. M'Skimming, jun., W. Laeton, E. R, Smith, W. L. Logie, _ and F. C. Cumming. Mr Fenwick was welcomed on nis return from the press delegates' visit to London. The agent's report showed that the influenza epidemic had in some ways prevented certain activities from receiving attention and had made greater demandii on his time. This was because, with the acting chairman's consent, he had taken the superintendency 'of the Knox Church auxiliary hospital. Still, no needed work of the society had been neglected. . Letters to the chairman were received from the Rev. R. E. Davies and Dr Bowie. Both expressed the thanks of the committee for permitting them to have Mr Cumming'* help during the recent epidemic. The position occupied by Mr Cumming was a responsible one, and entailed a large amount of painstaking labour, as well as administrative ability. The work has been done admirably. The committee expressed its pleasure at heing able to assist the influenza sufferers. The Rev. R. E. Davies's request for Mr Cumming's assistance in administrating a relief fund was granted.. The hon. treasurer's report showed that the recent appeal through the press for financial assistance _ for the society's fundi was very encouraging. The work was extending, and at present there was still need for further donations to be sent in.
