Captain Myers, A.A.G., promulgated the following sentences on Friday afternoon, as the result of the court-martial held on three military defaulters at the Central Battery last Monday:— 45851 Private William Douglas Pearston,

absent from medical examination without leave. —Two years imprisonment in H.M. Prison, with hard labour. 76285 Private William Wallace Yeoman, absent from medical examination without leave. —Two years' imprisonment in H.M. Prison, with hard labour. 26566 Private Laurence Barton, failing to concentrate at Wanganui.—Two years imprisonment in H.M. Prison, with hard labour. The deserters were captured at Ellin Bay, Lake Wakatipu. MAORI SOLDIERS SENTENCED. AUCKLAND, December 17. A court-martial sentenced two Maori r©servists to 17 months' imprisonment with hard labour for disobedience of lawful commands. Six others were sentenced to 18 months' imprisonment. Davidson, Napier street, Mornington, who left Canada for the front with the Eighth Canadian Reinforcements, has been awarded the _ D.C.M. for conspicuous services at Amiens.
