OTAGO A. AND P. SOCIETY
The monthly meeting of the committee of the Otago A. and P. Society was held on the 19th; present—Messrs R. A. S. Cantrell (president, in the chair), E. F. Duthie, J. Ross, J. A. Roberts, J. Macandrew, J. F. Herbert, R. A. Evving, Edgar C. Hazlett, W. Toirnbull, H. M. Driver, and J. Nimmo.
Tho Chairman referred to the death of Mr A. M. Macdonald, who was a candidate for election to the committee, and moved that a letter of condolence be sent to his parents. —The motion was carried. The Chairman also referred to tho number of deaths that had recently taken place amongst members of the society and exhibitors, and on behalf of the committee extended to all who had suffered the heartfelt sympathy of the society. Tho President reported that delegates from the society had recently waited on the Forbury Park Club, with a view to arranging dates for the society's show in conjunction with the trotting club's fixtures, and after discussion,' it was agreed that the show be held on January 29 and 30, the trotting club arranging its fixture for the two following days. Accounts amounting to £1046 18s lOd were passed for payment.
The Executive Officer of the New Zealand Munitions and Supplies Department wrote stating that a communication was be_ing despatched to the High Commissioner requesting him to see what could be done in the way of assisting the Royal Agricultural Society to ship samples of turnips, mangels, etc., for the society's Winter Show. —Received.
The Secretary of the Hospital Helpers' Association wrote applying for permission to make a collection on the show grounds.— It- was resolved to grant the request subject to certain conditions being observed. Mr A. Davidson, Alexandra, was elected a member of committee for the vacancy for Central Otago, and Mr D. M'Lennan, Dtmrobin, was elected for the vacancy in the Clutha-Tuapeka district. On the motion of Mr E. F. Ihrthie, seconded by Mr E. C. Hazlett, it -was re-
solved that a sub-committee consisting of | the chairmen of the various sub-committees be set up with power to act to revise the list of judges for the coming Summer Show. A considerable amount of detail business in connection with the forthcoming show was dealt with.
