DRIVERS' WAGES.
EMPLOYERS' OFFER REFUSED
WELLINGTON, December 19. The Drivers' Unions throughout New Zealand have declined the employers' offer to increase their wages providing the existing conditions remain unaltered. The dispute has since been referred to the Transport Workers' Advisory Board, which has decided to support the drivers in their claim for a reduction of hours and aJso a weekly half-holiday, an increase in wages and overtime rates. The demands are considered fair and reasonable by the board, which does not seo anv insurmountable difficulty. Conciliatory methods of reaching a settlement are urged, and to this end a further conference with the employers has been requested.
