HONOURS RECORD UNVEILED.
Mr James Miller presided over the monthly meeting of the Western Taieri Drainage Board, held at Mosgiei on Monday. Messrs Snell and Bremner appeared as a deputation to ask • for a better outlet than existed at present, and that, pending such being carried out, pumping by the local pump be resorted to to clear away the water lying on their properties. The position was argued at length between the deputation and the board. It was resolved to meet the deputation at Momona at 10 infant department. Mr John Marshall (Woodside) asked that the pipe-line drain be cleaned.—Reply to be sent that the board did not undertake the cleaning of pipe-line drains. The foreman reported that the last flood in the Waipori River had badly damaged about seven chains of contour bank on the Berwick side of the channel. The .Taieri River bank, from B drain to where the bank was metalled, required attention. The centre had been worn down. —It was resolved that the engineer bo asked to report On the break in the contour channel, the foreman to adopt temporary measures if necessary to prevent the bank from suffering further injury. The foreman and member for the riding were asked to attend to the raising of the river bank. Arrangements were made with Mr Win. Bryant for a given sum to sow grass on the sides of the embankment at Otokia and erect fencing to protect the new formation. The Minister of Lands advised that he could not fix a definite date for his intended visit to the Taieri, but would advise the board as soon as he could make arrangements to leave Wellington.
