PORT ILLEGALLY ENTERED.

AUCKLAND, Juno 5. E. Manson, master of an intercolonial vessel, was fined £25 in the police court to-day for entering Whanjriici, a port not under the control of the Customs, on a voyago from Newcastle to Gisborne. The law provides a penalty of £SOO. but the magistrate said it was not suggested that there was anything sinister in the defendant's action, as the captain had orders to call at Whangarei for coal, and he knew that a permit had been applied for.
