In the course of the next few weeks the kuaka, or gochvifc, which is at present spending ite summer in the- northern parts of New Zealand, will assemble in its millions at Spirits Bay, in the far north, in accordance with its annual time-table, to start off at 'the right moment for the long transoceanic flight to its winter quarters in Siberia. The spectacle of the long columns of birds taking wing at a given signal must, bo ono of special interest. The New Zealand Herald understands that several Auckland citizens interested in natural history are organising a party to b* on the spot at the time of the birds' departure.
