ARTHUR'S PASS TUNNEL
SPEEDY COMPLETION URGED. CHRISTCHUEOH, March 27. A large deputation representing Canterbury and West Coast waited on the Minis* ter of Public, Works to-day to urge the speedy completion of the Arthur's Pasa tunnel. Tho Minister said the tunnel must bo completed, but it was largely a question of expert labour and finance. 'A ' deputation of Otira tunnel , workers, waited on Sir William Eraser (Minister of Public Works) to-day, and asked whether, if the men returned to work at once, tho Minister would make a proper investigation of their grievances. The Minister promised that if the men returned to work now ho was prepared to visit tho tunnel scon after tho close of tho coming session and investigate any grievance the workers might have. MEN RETURN TO WORK. OHRISTCHURCH, March 30. A telegram from Otira says that at meeting of tho Workers' Union tho_ men decided to return to work, and wait till tho Minister's visit at the closo of the session, when an inquiry is to be made into the present or any other grievances tho men may put forward.
