Dr Cleary, Roman Catholio Bishop of Auckland, while on a tour,, in the North Auckland district, encountered bad weather one to the south of Hukercnui. His car ran into flood water, and became hopelessly bogged, and there was nothing for it but abandonment there. The Bishop and Father Kreijnborg, who accompanied him, walked back to the township. Hero they wero compelled to remain two nights. The car waa rescued and taken to Whangarei for overhaul.
