What ought have been a serious accident occurred on the 26th near Willowbank. Mr James Jarrold and Mrs Jarrold, with Mr Macaulay (all of-Tapanui), were motoring homewarde, and when nearly _ opposite the coalpit at Willowbank something went wrong with the steering gear, and tho car suddenly swerved into the side of the road and capsized. Mr Jarrold and Mr Macaulay were pinned underneath the car, but Mr jarrold was held by the foot only. In a few minutes help arrived, and all three wore speedily released. Mr Jarrold has sustained a somewhat severely sprained ankle, and Mrs Jarrold received bruiscs_ and cuts about the head, necessitating medical attention. Mr Macaulay was bruised.
