BOWLING.
WELLINGTON CENTRE TOURNAMENT.
The Wellington Centre's Annual tournament proved successful and enjoyable. The rinks were played on the sectional system; only two games a day being played. The finals were played on the 2nd, the two rinks left in being both from the Petone Club. In the semi-final Laurie {Petone) defeated Raven (Lyall Bay) by 26 to 19, and Wylio (Petone) 25 defeated Horner 18. The two Petone teams then played off as follows:—Mudge, Bargh, Robertson, Laurie (s) 22 beat Firth, Ross, Jones. Wylie (s) 11 with one head to go. Petone Club players were evidently in great form, for a third rink skipped by Beynon won the Gisbbrne rose bowl for the highest aggregate score in the section play. At the presentation of prizes eulogistic references were made to the self-sacrificing work of Mr Roberts the "secretary. Those present warmly endorsed the playing of only two games per day.
