IN BANKRUPTCY.

A meeting of creditors in the estate of Christopher Robert Robinson, of Shirley, labourer, was called to bo held at the office of tho Deputy Official Assignee (Mr K. N. H. Browne) on Thursday—afternoon. Bankrupt ' was represented by counsel, while there were no creditors pi-esent. Bankrupt's total liabilities were stated as follows:—Unsecured creditors —Import Company, £2 2s 8d; A. E. Farquhar's trustees, £lO lis 4d; D. Stewart and Son, £9 16s; John Sinclair, £7 9s; Airs M'lntyre, £5; W. F. Fafquhar, £6 2s; Dr Brugh, £7 6s. Bankrupt was examined at length by the assignee, and stated that ho was married and had two young children. For some time he had been engaged in contracting work, and had subsequently taken Hip farming, leasing from his father for this- purpose some 155 acres in conjunction with his brother. In this latter occupation he continued for five years, and at the same time entered upon carting contracts. The lease of his farm expired about two years ago, with tho result that bankrupt did not realise any substantial profit. He had, however, managed to pay his way. On the expiry of the lease witness had no banking account, while his interest in stock was nil. At the present time ho did not possess anything in tho way of assets. The reason for his filing was explained by the fact that tho Import Company had been pressing him, and through their instrumentsity he was involved somelittle time ago as defendant in a civil action with this firm. Ho was a member of the First Division and anticipated being called up for service in the near future. He was not in a position to make any offer to his creditors, as he had a wife and two children, whom ho had to support on an average incorno of £3 per week. _ After bankrupt's examination, the heanng was adjourned sine die.
