Miss Ada. Reeve has been made hon. member of Tattersall's Club, Sydney. She is the only female honorary member on the membership of this oxclusivo club. Some time ago a resident of Kaikoura recognised that tho facilities offered by modern science gave a certainty against ■what formerly had been a chance. He, therefore, ordered a 25-knot motor-boat, 'with which to chase tho whales which have always made Kaikoura a favourite spot with whalers. This craft came to hand several months ago, and immeditely justified itself by reason of its superior speed over other craft. Already 10 whales have been captured, each being worth several hundred of pounds. *
