IN SAFE KEEPING.

CUSTODY OF WAR LOAN CERTIFICATES. (From Oub Own Coehespondent.) WELLINGTON, July 8. The question of tho safe custody of war loan certificates on behalf of patriotic societies was recently raised in a letter received by the Controller and Auditor-general from an auditor of ono of the district patriotio committees. On going into the matter with his officers, the Hon. G. W. Russell (Minister of Internal Affairs) has been informed that tho post office authorities have made full provision for accepting and holding in security war loan certificates on behalf of individuals or of trustees. A receipt is given containing full particulars of tho numbers and values of tho certificates handed over for custody. There is a however, that, in the event of any portion of the certificates being required by the owner, .the whole of the certificates deposited must be lifted, and a further deposit made of those not required. The Minister is now giving instructions to tho department that all patriotio societies should be advised of this provision, so that if they desire they may take advantage of it.
