PRINCESS THEATRE.
Balto was the only performer to make a first appearance at the Princess Theatre on Monday. Balto is rigntly entitled a sensational balancer. He winds up his performance by sitting on a two-legged chair, which is balanced on a bar hung from two ropes, and then falls backward, catching hi 3 feet at tho ends of the bar and the ropes and thus saving himself from going right down on to tho stage. Signor and Signora Molinari once more charmed the audience with their singing. Miss Violet Trevenyon, beautifully dressed, received a rousing reception on making her appearance on the stage after an absence of some months. Tho dainty artist has lost none of tho distinctive charm and appeal associated with her singing of the songs which she has made her particular metier. She contributed three new songs, and in response to demonstrative applause gave an old favourite, "I'll Make You Want Me." Miss Trevenyon is booked to leave shortly for England, and should prove as popular as over during her return season. Tilton and West were heard to advantage in new songs and patter. Stirling _ and _ Love gave an instrumental scena, in which tho malo performer showed great versatility in bugle and cornet playing, sounding the various military calls in excellent fashion. Tim and Gertio Moore, a coloured comedy duo, provoked hearty laughter in a patter and knock-about turn, and Carlton and Sutton also featured song and story. Tho remaining performer in tho programme, Durante, dressed in Chinaman's attire, drew musio from a number of epiaint looking instruments, each of which he played in a clever manner.
