SYDNEY ROYAL SHOW.
(By Cable.) Rain spoiled the attendance on judging day at the Royal Show. There are 700 more entries than there were last year, which establishes a record. A feature of the show was the powerful lighting installation, enabling' the show to open at night. The imported stallion Paddington Awr was champion in the thoroughbred class, and Don Pronto won first and champion prizes in the trotting stallions. Messrs Mitchell and O'Brion, of Oamaru, secured first and champion for draught stallions over four years, iirst for stallion under four, first for stallion under three, second for draught mare over four, and first and second for Clydesdale stallions under thrco years. Mr J. Nixon scored first and champion for English Leicester ram, over two years, first for ram under two, and second for ram under 12 months, second for ewe over two years, and second for ewe under 12 months. Mr D. M l.ean 'gained first and champion for Durham fat cow.
Mr W. I. Lovelock secured second prize mul reserve olmmpion for Holstein-Frieskm bull, and second prize for heifer. In the fat cattle section Mr J. N. Boag s two crossbred bullocks carried off the honours for the best and heaviest shown, one scaling 23cwt. At the sales Mr William Nixon's shorthorn heifers ranged from 120 guineas to 40 guineas; Mr Ernest Short's four Hereford bulls from 160 guineas to 130 guineas. Mr Beattie's champion Hereford bull fetched 800 guineas, a record. Another from the same stud brought 590 guineas. Pig values ranged markedly high.
